Team Coaches
Coach - A Leader for learning and for community
The job of the coach includes leading of the learning process on three levels: Individual, team and community. In this context leadership should not be mixed with army style management (commanding and controlling) but it is more like creating possibilities for learning and giving support for the learners.
What eases the job of coaches is the fact that they are called coaches, not teachers or supervisors. Thus they are free from the traditional model of the teacher and from the norms of teacher-student relationship.
It is hard to say if in Team Academy it is more important to coach the team or leading the whole learning community. Both are needed. In coaching the team, the the coach leads teamsters into beginning of learning processes. Also he helps them into the teamworking and into the Team Academy community and to the shared leading thoughts. In the training session you learn about the learning tools, you train
dialogue and learn about team as a community. Moreover, coaches can give personal training for the learner in separate sessions. Every coach develop their own style as the time goes by. On the other hand, every team is unique with their special features and therefore they require different kind of attention from the coach. The coach learns
to know teamsters and the team as a whole and their habits and at the same time teamsters get to know the coach.
Leading of the Team Academy community means that you have to learn the structures of learning organization. Moreover it is about creating the leading thoughts together and observing if they stay up to date. The information has to flow freely between the teams and the individuals, so the whole community can learn.
